I've been investigating over the past 2 weeks, what to do regarding my daughter's permanent molar on her back left side of her jaw.  The dentist found a cavity there and after drilling on it for awhile, he found that she'll either need a root canal and ...

I just got back from the knee specialist and he says my knee is sound, no soft tissue damage... I'm still confused about how it could hurt so much and still be OK????  Isn't that weird.  Pain is weird.  It sure is a strong deterrent.  I barely moved ...

Uh Oh! What do you need to clean it up?

My son was getting out some goldfish crackers for a snack yesterday.  He took the lid off while walking to the table, then hit the container on his chair and I heard crackers waterfall onto the floor.

So, if you're following this blog at all you know that I've had a huge knee injury.  About a couple of weeks ago I hurt my knee playing volleyball.  I waited to go to the doctor because I needed to make sure that I was injured and not ...

I found out today that my kids both have head lice.  We inspected my husband and I and we don't apparently have it yet.

Head Lice... YUCK!  And... it is a part of life, right?  My husband and I were good about not freaking out and normalizing this issue ...

You Call It, You Own It!

I caught myself today being pretty abusive with myself... meaning, it is only 9 AM and already I gave myself a rough time about 3 different things... the last one, entailed leaving the wet clothes in the washing machine last night and forgetting to put them in the dryer resulting ...

Back to School: After School Routine

When the kids get home from school I have worked out, with their help, a set routine to help everyone meet all their needs for this time of day.  I call it "A Good Afternoon".

Kids off bus.  Bag by counter in kitchen.  Put shoes and jackets away.  Go potty ...

Back to School: First Day

How to make the first day of school go smoothly?  I think it starts the week before school with ensuring a bed time routine is in place so the kids find it easier to get up earlier and they can make it through the day without getting overly tired.  At ...

Annoying? Refocus!

What you pay attention to determines your reality.

I was reading to my daughter and I felt particularly jumpy... sensitive.  I was trying to focus on the book and she was listening but tickling my shoulder at the same time, just brushing it with her fingers without really even thinking ...

Rewind, Repair, Replay

Here is a parenting technique that I'm going to apply to coaching volleyball.

Rewind:  That didn't go well. OR That wasn't helpful.

Repair:  What could have been better or more helpful?

Replay:  Give that a try.

This is in lieu of using exercise as a punishment.  I ...
